What's New in Hochatown

  • Posted on
Hochatown is a special place for us.  Not only because we have cabins here - it's become a place to escape the craziness of the city, and to connect with nature and each other.  We're always finding new ways to enjoy the area.
Over the last few years, the town has seen a surge in development, and not just in new cabins.  Folks are investing in building and growing the local businesses that help make this such a great getaway.
Here's a rundown of some of what's new and improved in Hochatown, plus a glimpse of some exciting things coming soon.  There's never been a better time to visit - so come get some cabin time soon!
Updated February 2025!

What's New

Hochabow is a fantastic new development in South Hochatown, just south of the first park entrance on 259.  It was developed by our friends Scott and Natalie Cross, and it is gorgeous.
There's a great restaurant called Pressa Italia, with amazing food - plus they take reservations.  There's also a nice coffee shop called Local Habit, and wonderful chocolate shop called Loblolly Chocolates, and a really good gift shop called The Forest Store.  The common grounds are lovely, and there's an outside fireplace and room for the kids to run around.  They also sometimes have live music outside.
We consider this a must visit when we're in Hochatown.

Choctaw Landing

Opened last fall, Choctaw Landing is a 100-room resort with meeting rooms, a restaurant, a pool with 10 cabanas, and a fully operational casino with 600 slot machines and eight table games. The resort also has an outdoor recreation venue with an amphitheater, beer garden and additional food offerings. Additionally, a unique mercantile with groceries, deli, Starbucks, and a 24-pump fuel island is attached to the resort.

The gaming floor has tons of electronic slot machines, plus a series of gaming tables for Blackjack, Poker and Roulette.  The Mercantile is really nice - way nicer than the EZ Marts in town.  Even if you don't gamble, this is a cool place to check out - they did a really good job with it.

From one of the original owners/founders of The Eat Out, comes Lake Bums 259.  In the same location as The Eat Out, they've changed up the menu and expanded the bar.  The backyard keeps expanding too - with a huge firepit and campers to hang out while you eat and drink.  It's a great, fun spot, and they're open 7 days a week - which is a big deal in Hochatown.

Downtown Broken Bow continues its resurgence.  It's become such a great destination - about 20 minutes south of Hochatown.  The Girls Gone Wine folks have opened a fun new location. It's on the same block as some other nice new additions to town.   Have lunch at Brick and Bread, do some shopping at Youngbloods Mercantile or Rowdy South, then stop in to Girls Gone Wine for a drink.

Great new market, shops and food trucks just north of our cabins on 259.  The Hive (kids clothes and toys), Jolly Jim's Liquor, and Hey Sugar (candy and gifts).  Food trucks include Meltdown (gourmet grilled cheese) with more coming soon.

Located on Sugarberry Trail right at the entrance to our neighborhood is this great new development of shops and eateries that is going to become a great gathering spot.  Anchored by Sasquatch's Candy Den - a fun store with tons of candy and ice cream.  Also open is Hochatown Mountain Co - a great gift shop,
Naaman's BBQ from Texarkana - which is excellent, and
cool looking virtual reality experience called

Electric off-road vehicles on a wooded 2 mile through the park. By the folks who run the zip line.  https://rugaruadventures.com/swincar-tours/

Chili Dippers

Luxury mini golf next to the Maze of Hochatown.  They call it "serious golf, on a small scale".  If you've been to a Tiger Woods PopStroke mini golf - it's alot like that.  Super cool addition to town.

Who would have thought there'd be an amazing safari park in Hochatown?  From their website: "Nestled on 90 acres in Hochatown, OK, Beavers Bend Safari Park is a Drive-Thru animal park. Home to over 30 species & 200+ animals like Rhino, Bison, Zebra, Ostrich, Kudu, Deer, Lemurs, and more. The safari park's 1.8 mile roadway meanders through stunning natural terrain with towering trees and water streams making it the perfect backdrop to observe our magnificent animals as you drive through creating lifetime memories"
We haven't visited yet, but can't wait to!

Hochatime Hideaway

Great new satellite location for our favorite store in Hochatown - this one in the Forest Heritage Center within the park. https://hochatime.com/

The Lookout Kitchen

Opened last summer in the former Foggy Bottom Kitchen location in Beavers Bend State Park.  This is a great location in the park - right along the river.  Excited to have new owners taking over this space, and they will be serving breakfast lunch and dinner! Summer hours are 7am-9pm (10pm on Fri/Sat). Check out their menu here: https://www.thelookoutkitchen.com/beavers-bend

Brick & Bread and Sloppy Pops

A great new sandwich shop from the folks who started the Eat Out, but this is in downtown Broken Bow.  They're also about to open Sloppy Pops Ice Cream right next door.  Part of an ongoing revival of the downtown Broken Bow area.

The Speakeasy at Hochatown Distilling Co

Ok - this isn't exactly new, but it's new to me. Hochatown Distilling Co has a Speakeasy, behind the bookcase in the gift shop.  Looks like a fun place to go try out their outstanding spirits.  https://hochatowndistilling.com/

What's Updated/Improved

The Grateful Head

They've added a new and much better takeout process, with a separate entrance they call Terrapin Station. They also sell beer and wine to go in here.  https://www.gratefulheadpizza.com/

Hochatown Saloon

They've added a huge new concert venue out back - significantly increasing their capacity.  Still a great option for lunch too.  https://www.hochatownsaloon.com/events

Beavers Bend Brewery

They've more than doubled their brewing capacity, and added lots of outside tables. Plus they have amazing gourmet hot dogs. Always a Lake Life Favorite.  https://www.beaversbendbrewery.com

Mountain Fork Brewery

They've added an outdoor bar and some great new menu options. Live music most weekends too.  Also always a Lake Life favorite.  https://www.mtforkbrewery.com

Beavers Bend Marina

The marina has all new pontoon boats and jet skis this year, and they're super impressive! Guests save 10% with our promo code https://beaversbendmarina.com

Beavers Bend State Park

They've added beautiful signs and trailheads throughout the park, paved all the main roads, plus they've added really nice air conditioned bathrooms and shower areas.  Really impressive upgrades to the park. https://www.travelok.com/state-parks/beavers-bend-state-park

That's it for now!  I'm sure I missed some other great additions/improvements - so let us know if there's any we should add to the list.

So many more great reasons to keep coming back to Hochatown.

Enjoy!
